If there were ever the highest form of praise that an enemy can give to a spy, it was the one the German Gestapo gave to Virgina Hall when they called her "the most dangerous  allied spy".  Hall was a classic World War II spy in many ways including her many aliases of "Germaine", Camille", "Diane", and "Marie Monin". Even her arch enemies, the Germans had a nickname for Virginia Hall which was "Artemis".

The weapons used in the war of 1812 were knives, swords, bayonets, pistols, muskets, rifles, cannons and to a lesser extent, crude bombs. Among these different kinds of weapons, muskets and rifles with bayonets were the most used and in fact, were considered as the weapons that won the battles between these two opposing armies. This is because most battles were frontal in nature with wide distances between sides that would naturally call for the use of muskets and rifles.

In every war, there are legendary spies who do great things for their side through clever or secretive means.  When we look back on a great war like World War II, we have to take a moment and notice that even our enemies had some legendary characters worth noting.  Even if they were sworn to our destruction, the fact that they were great spies who accomplished amazing things cannot be diminished.

Spanning the entire globe and involving more countries than any other war, World War II (1939 – 1945) was also the largest armed war in human history. With its roots in the First World War, it was not a surprise to see the fusion of man and machine to the extent that witnessed the Second. Never before had human seen such a dramatic and diverse flow of new scientific developments and new powerful weapons as World War II, culminating in the first use of nuclear weapons.

In the history of ground war strategies and the power of incredible skill, strength and courage against an overwhelming force, the legend of the 300 Spartans who held the vast Persian army in check in the pass called Thermopylae is such an amazing story that to this day we repeat it with awe.  Even in the last year, a movie about the battle of Thermopylae came out which only rekindled the interest in this battle and in the ground war they found to defend the Greeks.

Stemming from the tensions, alliances and expansion of the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States of America, the Vietnam War was fought between the North Vietnam, supported by its communist allies, against the South fuelled by the US and its allies in Southeast Asia in a lengthy conflict (1959 -1975). This conflict was home to virtually every type of individual Weapon used in the Vietnam War imaginable, from crude firearms manufactured in jungle workshops to ultra-sophisticated, hi-tech pieces complete with silencers and scopes. Some of them were of the most devastating the world has ever seen.

Following World War 2 communist country's lead by China recognized the Vietminh's democratic republic of Vietnam as the official government of  North Vietnam, whilst other nations recognized the French-backed, South Vietnamese Government, With empire Bao Dai as its ruler. With the outbreak of the Korean war in the early 1950's governments believed that Indochina was a direct expansionism of Communism by the Soviet Union.
